If you bank with Barclays next time you go to see your branch manager he may ask if you’ve been to the deli-counter and seen the latest black pudding offer or have you taken advantage of the three meals for the price of two bargain! Because, this leading high street bank, is said to be looking to recruit supermarket bosses to improve customer service at hundreds of its branches.

Barclays has to be admired for taking this positive step while other high street banks are still shitting down local branches.

A spokesman told one Sunday newspaper: “We have increased the salaries and are improving the calibre of our branch managers. We have recruited a few outsiders from places such as Debenhams and Tesco because the managers of our branches need to have a combination of skills in retailing and banking.”

The bank is also anxious to reduce waiting times in queues for its customers. One simple answer is to put on more counter staff at busy times plus a club card that gives them a discount on their overdraft!
